Aravind Eye Hospital
Aravind Eye Hospital in Tamil Nadu, India, is one of the world’s most celebrated models of equitable healthcare—delivering high-quality vision care affordably and sustainably to millions each year. Guided by a mission to end needless blindness, Aravind continues to expand its impact within and beyond India. As their reach continues to grow, so does the need for purposeful storytelling that honors patients, staff, and mission in equal measure.
I joined Aravind’s Inspiration Week, an immersive program designed for healthcare leaders to learn directly from the hospital’s operational excellence and purpose-driven culture.
Through hospital tours, leadership discussions, community outreach visits, and behind-the-scenes observation, I witnessed how Aravind balances cost, quality, and compassion while serving large and diverse patient populations.
This exposure informed my creative approach: understanding the systems, people, and values that make Aravind not just a hospital, but a movement.
Drawing from my background in advertising and documentary filmmaking, I led a one-day storytelling workshop for a cross-functional group across Aravind.
I introduced an empathy-driven framework to transform real care experiences into narratives that drive health impact. The guiding project focused on a nurse recruitment story that empowers young women from rural villages to see themselves as part of Aravind’s mission to end needless blindness.
